4th Annual Children’s & Family Emmy Award Nomination

Thank you Children’s Media Association for a lovely Children’s & Family Emmy nomination party last night. Food, drinks and chatting with creative people. Always a great time.

Wonder Pets: In the City! received 5 nominations last night.

I was also fortunate to be nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Preschool Animated Series for Wonder Pets: In the City, Save Tate! I share this nomination with Jennifer Oxley, Pete McEvoy and Thomas Gray (the biggest little team).

Nickelodeon Upfronts:

Internal Video Presentation

I mainly worked on a sequence of atom effects. Each atom represented a Nickelodeon property such as Sponge Bob, Avatar, TMNT, Paw Patrol and Star Trek. Each atom had a nucleus image of the property with electrons spinning around with icons and show specific artwork. This was animated in After Effects using Trapcode’s 3D Stroke for the orbits and the electrons were 2D elements animated around in 3D space tracking with the 3D stroke. All atoms were rigged in such away that any notes or adjustments would be easy to address. This was done by using expressions to tie all colors together if a theme had changed. Or the orbit’s speed or timing needed tweaking that fix could be done by rotating a single null object.
